This is a true story about three Angels I know. Two of them look very much like human beings, and the other one is most definitely a doggie Angel:-) Michael is the name of the guy angel, and Dee is the lady angel. They were all living together quite happily, working as hard as anyone else, until recently, when Michael became inspired and decided that he needed to get out on the road and walk, meet people, talk to them and tell them about his brothers and sisters who were feeling forgotten, unappreciated, living on the streets or contemplating taking their lives.
He knew it would be tough out there, walking across his beautiful country, America, exposed to the elements, but it would never be as hard as what he had already been through as a soldier for the US Army. After 20 years as an American soldier and security contractor, Two Tours of Duty in Kosovo, Iraq and most recently, a tour as a private contractor in Afghanistan, Michael has seen it all. He has the tattoos and the badges. He served out of love for his children and our children; for his fellow countrymen and women. He put his life on the line all those years in order to defend the integrity of the United States of America and the free world. He witnessed the atrocities, the violence, the abuse and exploitation of children, and when all was said and done, he came back to "civvie" street where, like most Veterans, he was given a pat on the back and an indifferent shoulder.
Haunted by what he had seen in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, Michael questioned everything and everyone. Post-traumatic stress set in and he felt lost. He spent time reconnecting with his family and friends, became a police officer, but a huge piece of the puzzle was missing. He found purpose in Canada for a time, devoting three more years of selfless giving and protection to a friend and her special needs daughter. Michael then returned to the US, reconnected with his two precious sons and tried to set up his own business. He had advised and consulted with an organization in Canada on an intricate Risk Assessment Management Plan and all he needed was support to set up a professional Risk Management Company in the US. After being turned down so many times by "Angel Investors", he once again lost hope, direction and motivation.
And, then one day, he met Lady Dee. A beautiful angel from Waupaca, Wisconsin. A veteran of life, Dee welcomed Michael into her home and her heart, offering him warm, unconditional love. The kinda love that can cure cancer and part the sea. The kind of love that gives you wings, let's you fly and then come home again. Boots is their little darling Blue Heeler/Terrier Doggie Angel. We think she was heaven-sent to accompany Michael on his crusade across America. At the beginning of April this year, Michael and Boots left their lovely home, and deployed on a special mission: to raise awareness and concern for veterans across the country. It takes a very special lady with a great love to let your loved ones go like that. Any of you Veteran families know this. Whenever her work schedule permits, Dee will try to meet Michael and Boots and spend some time with them along their journey. There is so much more I could have written about these beautiful people, but I couldn't risk having you all in tears. So, that's it for now. I pray you are able to spend time with Michael, Dee and Boots because your heart will forever after be blessed. Thank you for any kindness you share with them. God Bless you. God Bless America and Canada and all Veterans everywhere.
