Michael David Roberts was born in Pennsylvania, in the United States.
He joined the US Army in 1984 and has served in three Tours of Duty over the past 15 years: Iraq, Kosovo and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Boots is a beautiful blend of Blue Heeler and Terrier. She is only five months old and strong enough to accompany Michael on a journey across America.
8000+ miles across America to raise awareness for disabled and amputee veterans.
I will video and record the journey and I will interview Americans along the route of travel.
My hope is to have 5000 copies made and distributed to veterans communities
throughout the United States, as well as to US Military units stationed abroad:
For them to get to see what they fought and are fighting for...
to get to see that their injuries were not unappreciated,
or lacking worth...
To show these honorable men and women that they fought for what is still to be considered
one of the greatest nations on this planet..
The UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
I am collecting ribbons along this walk. One Ribbon, any color,
that shows that YOU care about anything, not only about veterans…
but that you care about the animals, the environment, the cure for diseases,
the homeless, each other…. That YOU care about what is right.
These things are only a few of the things that our veterans care about.
Veterans are Leaders. Veterans are educated. Veterans are Business people,
politicians, actors, neighbors, cousins, store clerks, trashmen, carpenters..
Veterans don't want medals, parades and awards....
As tough as they are, as hard as they can be,
They are human beings and have the biggest hearts.
What they truly want is to know that what they did was appreciated...
and that is meant something to you.
So Again, I offer each and everyone of you a challenge....
Simply to provide me with a ribbon to tie to my walking stick,
so that when this journey ends... ALL Veterans will know that what they fight for,
what they have fought for and what they have died for.....meant something.
