  • Message Just saw your story on Fox News. I am a USN Vet 1978 - 1984, American Legion Rider and Patriot Guard Rider from La Grange, Texas. It doesn't look like your projected path will come near here, but if it is possible, depending on my schedule and when you are even close to Texas, would like to make a run to at least give you a salute. If it doesn't work out, I hope that I can at least make sure you get some type of support when you get to Texas. I don't think that will be a problem though. Good luck and God Speed!

• Michael... I am a Vietnam Vet served aboard the USS Coral Sea in the South China Sea bombing North Vietnam. The toughest part of serving in the military in the '60's was coming home to a public that did not support the military. In those days unless you were applying for a job in the defense industry you did not mention that you had served in the military, especially on college campuses. I have always been proud of my service and all those who serve our country. To see someone like yourself making this journey and adding another level of selflessness to your service makes me recognize yet again how proud I am to be an American.   • I was a career soldier and Vietnam Vet. I appreciate your service and that of all veterans. However, I don't let my military service define me. As a civilian for the past 27 years, I have worked for others, established my own business, and always tried to be a good citizen. Walking across this beautiful country isn't for veterans. It is for you. You most likely feel as sense of hopelessness and lack of direction in life. You have been homeless, unemployed, and lack direction. I don't need you to define my military service or sacrifice. I served with pride and dignity with the best of the best our country has. The opportunity to lead young Americans was the greatest experience in life other than fatherhood. God bless you.   • Michael, glad you failed at your attempt to exit this life. I hope your journey brings peace of mind and strengthens your soul. I saw your story on MSN News and the route they showed had you heading south on your way to the west coast. I think I would travel a northern route during the summer months , but then I'm an Air Force vet, not a tough grunt, LOL. You have my sincere respect and I thank you for what you are doing and for your service to our country! Walk on brother!
